What is my home worth?

Atlantic Seaboard

The Atlantic Seaboard follows the coast from Mouille Point to Llandudno, squeezed between the ocean and the slopes of Signal Hill, Lion's Head and the Twelve Apostles: dense apartment streets along the Promenade at one end, beach coves and hillside houses at the other.

Sea Point

The promenade, the pool and Regent Road

Sea Point is a dense strip between Signal Hill, Lion's Head and the Atlantic. Apartment blocks line Beach Road and Main Road, while freehold houses climb the slopes. Life happens on the Promenade and along Regent Road, its busiest food street.

  • The Promenade. The seafront walkway runs the length of the suburb, from Mouille Point to Saunders' Rock.
  • Sea Point Pool and tidal pools. The Sea Point Pavilion pool is one of five City pools open all year.
  • No Blue Flag, but close by. None of Sea Point's beaches holds Blue Flag status.

Three Anchor Bay

The cove, the slipway and Main Road

Three Anchor Bay is a small pocket on the seaward side of Signal Hill, where Sea Point, Green Point and Mouille Point meet, so its boundaries are easy to miss. Its streets run from the cove on Beach Road up across Main Road, lined mostly with apartment blocks and a handful of restored Victorian houses.

  • Three Anchor Bay beach. A small sheltered cove on Beach Road with a sandy beach, a boat slipway used by recreational skippers, toilets and disability access.
  • Kayaks and wildlife. The often calm water makes the bay a launch point for kayakers, with guided trips from a shop across the road.
  • Where the name comes from. The name appears in Dutch records from 1661 and probably refers to a defensive chain across the bay held in place by three anchors.

Green Point

The Stadium, the park and Somerset Road

Green Point runs from the coast up the slopes of Signal Hill, between Sea Point, Mouille Point and the V&A Waterfront. Somerset Road and Main Road carry its restaurants, cafés and nightlife, and the Stadium and Green Point Park give it more open space than its neighbours.

  • Green Point Park. A free urban park with a biodiversity garden and a wetland walk, open from 9:00 to 19:00, between the Stadium and the sea.
  • DHL Stadium. Home of the Stormers and Cape Town City FC, it hosts rugby tests, the HSBC SVNS Cape Town sevens (5 and 6 December 2026) and concerts.
  • Metropolitan Golf Club. A par-71 course next to the Stadium, open to visitors from Sunday to Friday.

Mouille Point

A lighthouse, a park and the Waterfront next door

Mouille Point is one of Cape Town's smallest suburbs: a line of apartment blocks along Beach Road and Bay Road, between Green Point and the V&A Waterfront. Almost every home looks at the ocean, the Promenade or Green Point Park.

  • Green Point Lighthouse. The red-and-white lighthouse on the Mouille Point Promenade was first lit in 1824.
  • Green Point Park. Directly behind the suburb, with an entrance on Bay Road: a free park with a biodiversity garden, open from 9:00 to 19:00.
  • Promenade and Three Anchor Bay. The Promenade starts here and runs to Sea Point.

Bantry Bay

Lion's Head slopes, Kloof Road and the rocky shore

Bantry Bay sits on the western slopes of Lion's Head, squeezed between Sea Point and Clifton above a rocky stretch of coast. Victoria Road curves along the shore and Kloof Road runs higher up, with apartment blocks and a few large hotels on steep, short streets.

  • Once Botany Bay. The suburb was first called Botany Bay, after a garden planted here to grow medicinal herbs.
  • Darwin's plaque. A plaque on the shore marks a visit by Charles Darwin, who made observations here on the nature and origin of granite.
  • Lion's Head above. The suburb climbs the flank of Lion's Head, whose summit walk takes about an hour and is popular at full moon.

Fresnaye

Lion's Head, French avenues and Kloof Road

Fresnaye climbs the lower slopes of Lion's Head between Signal Hill and Sea Point, which wraps around it to the north and west, with Bantry Bay to the south-west. Its steep, palm-lined avenues, many with French names, are lined with family houses, apartment blocks and penthouses looking out over the Atlantic.

  • Lion's Head. The 669 m peak rises directly behind the suburb.
  • Table Mountain National Park on the doorstep. The upper streets back onto the national park's Lion's Head trails, and its slopes are a launching point for paragliders.
  • From Winterslust to Fresnaye. The slopes were once Winterslust, an 81 ha estate of vineyards and orchards bought in the early 1800s by Ryk Le Sueur, a lawyer of Huguenot descent.

Clifton

Four coves, the stairs and Victoria Road

Clifton is a narrow strip on the Atlantic side of Lion's Head, between Bantry Bay and Camps Bay. Victoria Road runs along the top, and below it houses, bungalows and apartments drop by narrow stairways to four small coves of white sand split by granite boulders.

  • First to Fourth. The beaches are numbered 1st to 4th from north to south and sit in the wind shadow of Lion's Head, so they stay calm when the south-easter blows.
  • 4th Beach keeps its flag. Clifton 4th was one of eight Cape Town beaches awarded full Blue Flag status for 2026/27, announced on 9 October 2026.
  • Bungalows on small plots. The plots between 2nd and 4th Beach were laid out by the City for soldiers returning from the First World War.

Camps Bay and Bakoven

The beach, the Glen and Victoria Road

Camps Bay and Bakoven, which the City records as one suburb, run along Victoria Road between Clifton and Llandudno, with the Twelve Apostles rising behind and Lion's Head to the north. Camps Bay is the busy beachfront strip with houses climbing towards Camps Bay Drive, while Bakoven, at the southern end, is a quieter run of rocky coves and 1940s beach houses.

  • A Blue Flag beach since 2008. Camps Bay Beach kept its Blue Flag for the 2026/27 season and has a tidal pool and summer lifeguards.
  • Coves at the southern end. Bakoven takes its name from an offshore rock shaped like an oven door.
  • The Glen and mountain trails. The Big and Little Glen are the suburb's public green spaces.

City Bowl

The City Bowl is the natural amphitheatre enclosed by Table Mountain, Devil's Peak, Lion's Head and Signal Hill, open to Table Bay and the harbour. It takes in the City Centre and the Bo-Kaap, and the residential suburbs of Gardens, Tamboerskloof, Oranjezicht and Vredehoek, which climb towards the mountain. It is one of the densest parts of Cape Town, with about 118,000 residents on 33 km² at the 2011 census.

Cape Town City Centre

Greenmarket Square, Bree Street and the Foreshore

Cape Town City Centre fills the flat ground between the Foreshore and the Company's Garden, with the Bo-Kaap and Signal Hill on one side and Table Mountain behind. Its grid of Bree, Loop and Long Streets mixes office towers, old shopfronts, galleries and a growing number of apartment blocks, and its western edge takes in part of De Waterkant's cottage streets near Somerset Road.

  • Greenmarket Square. The historic heart of the old town, between Long Street and St George's Mall, with a craft and curio market.
  • First Thursdays. On the first Thursday of each month, galleries and creative spaces around Bree Street and Plein Street stay open into the evening, and the city centre fills with people on foot.
  • Iziko Slave Lodge. The Iziko Slave Lodge, one of the city's main museums, stands on Adderley Street and has its own MyCiTi stop.

  • Auwal Mosque. Built in 1794 on Dorp Street, it is considered the oldest mosque in South Africa.
  • Bo-Kaap Museum. At 71 Wale Street, in a house from the 1760s, it shows the home of a 19th-century Cape Muslim family.

Gardens

Kloof Street, the Company's Garden and the Nellie

Gardens climbs from the top of the city centre towards Table Mountain and Lion's Head, between Tamboerskloof, Oranjezicht and Vredehoek. Kloof Street runs through the middle with its restaurants and shops, older houses and apartment blocks fill the streets around the Company's Garden, and the quieter upper slopes of Higgovale sit right under the mountain.

  • The Company's Garden. Laid out by the Dutch East India Company in 1652 and open to the public since 1848, the eight-hectare garden is open from 07:00 to 19:00 between September and March, and to 18:00 in winter.
  • Mount Nelson. The pink hotel, open since 1899 and set in eight acres of grounds, was ranked number 34 in The World's 50 Best Hotels 2026.
  • Museums and the Labia. The Iziko South African Museum, with its planetarium, the Iziko South African National Gallery, the South African Jewish Museum and the Cape Town Holocaust Centre are all in Gardens, as is the Labia, an independent art-house cinema.

Lion's Head, Kloof Nek and the top of Kloof Street

Tamboerskloof climbs the slopes of Lion's Head and Signal Hill on the western side of the City Bowl, between Gardens, the Bo-Kaap and the pass at Kloof Nek. Steep residential streets of houses and low apartment blocks run up from the restaurants of Kloof Street to the start of Kloof Nek Road, with Table Mountain filling the view to the south.

  • Lion's Head on the doorstep. Lion's Head rises directly above the suburb, and several Table Mountain trails start from Tafelberg Road at Kloof Nek, where parking is free.
  • Kloof Nek Road. Built in 1848 and described as one of South Africa's oldest roads, it climbs from Kloof Street over the pass between Table Mountain and Lion's Head to Camps Bay.
  • German school and local primaries. The German International School, founded in 1883, is on Bay View Avenue and teaches in German and English streams up to matric and the Abitur.

Oranjezicht

De Waal Park, the reservoir and the City Farm

Oranjezicht sits at the top of the City Bowl, directly under Table Mountain, next to Gardens and Vredehoek, with the Higgovale streets around Higgo Road on its western side. Quiet, leafy streets such as Upper Orange Street and Camp Street climb towards the mountain, and De Waal Park and the Molteno reservoir give the suburb a green centre.

  • De Waal Park. Opened to the public in 1895 on Camp Street and declared a National Monument in 1968, the park keeps its 1905 bandstand and 1898 Victorian fountain, and hosts Concerts in the Park.
  • Molteno reservoir. Opened in 1881 to store Table Mountain spring water, the reservoir still supplies the city centre and the Company's Garden.
  • Oranjezicht City Farm. A non-profit organic farm on a former bowling green at 87 Upper Orange Street, open to visitors on weekday mornings and Saturday mornings.

Its streets, from Upper Buitenkant and Derry Street to Rabbi Mirvish Avenue, mix Art Deco blocks, newer apartments and family houses, most with a view over the City Bowl and the harbour.

  • Deer Park. A small Table Mountain National Park reserve at the top of the suburb, with a 40-minute loop, picnic spots and paths up to Tafelberg Road, Platteklip Gorge and Devil's Peak.
  • Disa Park towers. Three cylindrical 17-storey towers, Blinkwater, Platteklip and Silverstroom, completed in 1969 by Bergamasco, Duncan & James.
