Mouille Point is one of Cape Town's smallest suburbs: a line of apartment blocks along Beach Road and Bay Road, between Green Point and the V&A Waterfront. Almost every home looks at the ocean, the Promenade or Green Point Park.
Green Point Lighthouse
The red-and-white lighthouse on the Mouille Point Promenade was first lit in 1824. It is South Africa's oldest operating lighthouse.
Green Point Park
Directly behind the suburb, with an entrance on Bay Road: a free park with a biodiversity garden, open from 9:00 to 19:00.
Promenade and Three Anchor Bay
The Promenade starts here and runs to Sea Point. Three Anchor Bay, a sheltered cove with a slipway, is popular for kayaking.
Metropolitan Golf Club
A par-71 course next to the Stadium, open to visitors from Sunday to Friday.
Schools and hospital nearby
Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard (private, age 1 to Grade 12) and New Somerset Hospital are in neighbouring Green Point.

What residents deal with
The Waterfront is growing
The V&A's Granger Bay expansion plans about 6,000 households over time, with 10 % of new space set aside for affordable housing. Reclaiming land from the sea still awaits approval.
Event days on Beach Road
Stadium matches, the Marathon and the Cycle Tour close Beach Road and Granger Bay Boulevard for the day.
Short-term letting rules ahead
A draft City by-law (August 2026) would require every short-term rental to register, with commercial rates from July 2027 for homes let short-term more than half the year. It is still a proposal.
A small suburb
About 1,700 residents at the last census. Most buildings have their own security and body corporate rules, which matter more here than street-level services.
